Is It Too Late To Start My Business?

The #1 concern that I hear from hopeful entrepreneurs across the country is: “Is it too late to start my business?” People have a lot of reasons for having this concern. For some, they feel they are too old and have missed the boat when it comes to chasing their dream of being a small business owner. For others, they feel there was this window of opportunity that has somehow vanished and there is now no more opportunity for them to be successful.

But the main motivator for this concern is this: competition.

Competition, though, doesn’t need to be the killer of your dream. In fact, competition often times is the reason why you should start your business.


Because it validates the fact that there is a demand for whatever service you provide. If there wasn’t a single competitor, then you most likely are coming up with something that no one has ever done before. That can either be a good thing or a bad thing. But if there are people finding success in whatever niche you want to emulate, then you know there is opportunity for you to achieve success as well.

In 2009, I started my senior care business in a sea of competition. Literally, there were nearly 200 competitors. But we succeeded and I believe you can too.
